Mission Statement

The goal of EMRA is to support the development of eye movements based research. This includes all aspects of basic and applied eye movement research, through focus periods and selected projects with broad benefit to the community. EMRA activities are undertaken and shaped by members voluntarily, as a non profit independent association.

The following core activities are planned for our first two years:

  • Developing international standards related to eye tracking - beginning with the Eye Data Quality Standard, in collaboration with COGAIN.
  • Hosting and maintaining open access archives of ECEM conference abstracts and proceedings, websites and other material.
  • The EMRA shared tools - supporting the development and provision of open-source tools for eye tracking experiments, eye data analysis and processing.
  • Developing international standards related to eye tracking - beginning with the Eye Data Quality Standard, in collaboration with COGAIN.
  • Hosting and maintaining open access archives of ECEM conference abstracts and proceedings, websites and other material.
  • Providing educational materials such as video casts of how to set up and operate currently available and out of production eye trackers.
  • Hosting and maintaining an online museum of eye tracking, archiving photographic, video, literature, software and eye movement data from out-of-production as well as current eye trackers.
  • Providing current information on courses and workshops offered by various eye movement research groups.
  • Compiling and maintaining an up to date list of research groups using eye movements methods, and their projects/interests.
  • Providing webspace, mailing lists and forums for special interest groups.
EMRA also offers the following support to members who wish to host ECEM or other eye movement related conferences, workshops or colloquia:
  • Technical and financial tools for conference and workshop management and support in using them
  • Support for online journal and proceedings publication
  • Supporting special interest groups with webspace, forums, and a point of contact for interested researchers
  • Maintaining a list of potential reviewers with various eye tracking and eye movement expertise

We welcome the involvement of members in shaping and developing the aims and activities of the association. You can do this through collaboration on the above activities or by suggesting your own initiatives for voluntary collaborations that have benefit to the eye movement research community. Please contact the if you would like to get involved.
